The Beaver Island Wildlife Club is seeking bids

The Beaver Island Wildlife Club is seeking bids to non-commercially cut 20 acres of mixed hardwood State Forest land located in T 38N R 10W Sec.28 in support of The Ruffed Grouse Society's MDNR Wildlife Habitat grant titled "Priority Young Forests Project, Project Number WH 15-607. The site is located approximately 3/8 mile south of Hannigan's road. Maps will be emailed to interested bidders.

The area was paint marked by MDNR Forestry personnel in March of 2014. The scope of work is to cut all non-mast bearing trees, shrubs, and saplings at waist level or lower and complete the work by April 15, 2015. The cut material is to be left in place. No snags shall be left.

Access will be walk in or snowmobile/ATV across private property. BIWC has secured permission for entry. No logging equipment or heavy machinery permitted. Skid steer or small tractor can be used for clearing access, if required.

Insurance requirements:

a. Comprehensive General Liability â?? Occurrence form, including coverage for bodily injury, personal injury, property damage (broad form), premises/operations, and blanket contractual. Coverage shall be endorsed to name the BIWC as an additional insured for work performed by the Contractor in accordance with the Agreement.
Minimum Limits:
 $500,000 per occurrence/$1,000,000 general aggregate
 $1,000,000 personal

b. Motor Vehicle Liability â?? Including Michigan No-Fault coverage, covering owned, non-owned, and hired vehicles.
Minimum Limits:
 No-fault coverage â?? statutory
 $1,000,000 per occurrence combined single limit for bodily injury and property damage

c. Workersâ?? Compensation and Employerâ??s Liability
Minimum Limits:
 Workersâ?? Compensation â?? statutory $100,000



Proof of insurance must be provided to the BIWC before work begins.

The bid requires a lump sum price for cutting the 20 acres, and, in the event a scope reduction is required, a per acre price for 10 acres or more.



An on-site pre bid meeting will be scheduled the week of Feb. 16, 2015 once a reasonable weather forecast is available. Interested Bidders will be notified of time and date.


Payment will be made in the form of 3 progress payments following site reviews by BIWC.
Details will be worked out with successful bidder.

The undersigned Bidder proposes and agrees, if this Bid is successful, to enter into an Agreement with BIWC that will identify payment terms, hold harmless/indemnification clauses and other administrative items.

Bids due to Phil Wyckoff or Jacque LaFreniere by 11:00 am, Monday, Feb. 23rd. Bids will be opened at 11:01 am same day at the Peaine Township Hall.
