New island book: "The King's Daughter"

Post by Dan Hendrix »

I have recently published a new book. "The King's Daughter" is a historical novel that takes place on Beaver Island from 1848 to 1857. The story begins with the emigration of four fishermen from Ireland to America, continues with a forbidden love affair between a young Irish lad and the daughter of King James Strang, and concludes with the assassination of King Strang, the expulsion of the Mormons, and a mystery surrounding the destiny of the two young lovers.
While writing "The King's Daughter" I have made every effort to maintain accuracy while weaving a fictional story into real historical events. You will find many familiar island characters and island locations throughout the book.
"The King's Daughter" is available at the Beaver Island Historical Museum (located in the Mormon Print Shop), McDonough's Market, and the Beaver Island Studio and Gallery. If you are leaving the island, stop at the Beaver Island Boat Company terminal or at Book World or Round Lake Book Shop in Charlevoix. For holiday gifts, go to Amazon.com.
