Over $6000.00 for the CAN DRIVE

Post by debrob2 »

Just wanted to thank the entire Beaver Island Community as well as visitors who have donated to the BICS Can Drive this past year! Your donations have yielded over $6000 in one year!

For those of you who don't know, middle school students at Beaver Island Community School, gratefully accept your donations of returnable cans/bottles and process them as a way to earn money for their trips to Hayowentha and Washington DC.

Returnable cans and bottles are collected year-round at the BI Transfer Station, making it very convenient when you are dropping off your other recyclables!

A HUGE thank you to the people at the Transfer Station, Island Energies (who hauls and ships our processed cans) and the entire Community for your generous donations!

Processing these cans/bottles is a BIG job! The kids work very hard and we are so proud of their strong work ethic! If anyone from the community would like to come and help, please let me know and I will notify you when we process again. In the summertime we process every two to three weeks.

Again, Thank you!
