No Text on Board - Take the Pledge!

Post by Connie Boyle »

The Beaver Island Community School National Honor Society Chapter is encouraging all their classmates, friends, family, and community members to "Don't Text and Drive". The NHS members will be sharing some information with students at school on Wed, 9/19, which is the Pledge Day. Everyone is encouraged to go to the website http://itcanwait.com/ and take the pledge, "No Text on Board - It Can Wait!".

There also is a great at&t free phone app called "Drive Mode" on that webpage if you scroll down. (If you don't see it, wait a minute - it will rotate into view.) When turned on, this app will let those who are trying to reach you receive an auto reply message letting them know you're on the road and will get back to them when it's safe.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact the NHS members or adviser
(Marissa, Olivia, Erin, Connie Boyle)

P.S. "adviser" is one of two correct spellings, and is used by the NHS on the national and local levels.

Excellent!!! Any thought to having students pledge to wear seat belts?

That could definitely be our next project and I will bring it up at our NHS meeting. Thank you for your suggestion, Trish. ~Connie
