Old Beaver Island Fire Truck For Sale - Plainwell Auction

Post by Chamber of Commerce »

Old Beaver Island Fire Truck for sale at Plainwell auction. The story includes a nice photo. :D

http://www.mlive.com/news/kalamazoo/ind ... eaver.html

The auction liquidating the estate of Dr. Thomas and Joyce Jackson, at 314 S. Sherwood in Plainwell, will include an excellent representation of restored antique cars, pickup trucks, and a farm truck.

Beaver Island's old fire engine No. 2, lovingly restored, is on the sale list.

Looks like a great opportunity for the BI Chamber to purchase the fire engine for a tourist attraction. They should get down there on the 29th and get into the bidding.

Tom and Joyce were good friends of my Grandma and Grandpa Molenaar in Kalamazoo. I have seen this fire truck in person and it is beautiful. His entire collection was quite amazing to look at. this would be a great acquisition if at all possible.

We live a little over an hour from auction. We are looking at attending it. If anyone is interested in the firetruck and would like to bid on it give me a call.

We are not interested in buying it, but we could keep you informed of where the bid is and could bid for you. (you would have to make payment and transportion arrangements prior to auction)

Our cell # is : 517-414-4433.

I would hate to see it go for a song and find out someone on the island really wanted it.

Have a great monday night!

Thatâ??s a very nice offer Kathe. Perhaps if folks send a link to this thread to others (not everyone reads the forum) maybe someone would come forward. Value estimates run in the $5,000 to $8,000 range.

The fire truck sold at auction today for $15,500. Is was beautiful for sure. Funny story...they could not find the key for the fire truck so the auctioneer announced it was as is, if they don't find the key you are buying it without it! So, they could not even start it up to show it ran. Regardless, it still sold for $15,500.
