The Preservation Association of Beaver Island (PABI) is sponsoring a Beaver Island Ice Classic. This is a contest to guess when a wooden tower that has been placed on the ice next to the Beaver Island Marina will go into the water. The tower is wired to a clock on the adjacent barge and when it sinks a float will activate and stop the clock. The person who guesses the closest time (day, hour, minute) will receive one-half of the proceeds from the ticket sales.

The funds will all go to support the construction of the Community Center (the web site also has information on the progress of the project.

For more information and a picture of the tower check the PABI web site http://pabi.beaverisland.net/

Tickets are available from any PABI Board of Director member and are for sale at McDonoughâ??s Market. The PABI web site has the names. The cost of a guess is $5.00 each or 5 for $20.00. Ticket sales will end on March 20th, 2006.

Buy some tickets. Have some fun. Support the Community Center project.
