DAVID S. BRODER - The Beaver Island Columns
On July 3, 2012 the four Broder brothers George, Josh, Matt and Mike will be available for a "Book Party" at the St. James Township Hall from 5:00 PM â?? 7 :00 PM.
As most of you know, longtime Island summer visitor and Pulitzer Prize winner David S. Broder died last year. In tribute, and as a demonstration of the family's love of Beaver Island, his sons have published a collection of their father's "Beaver Island" columns in book form, with 100% of money generated from the sales of the books going to benefit our Health Center. With the help of many Islanders, the book includes terrific Island photos so the product will have David Broder's insightful words, stories about the Emerald Isle between 1970 - 2010, plus pictures about this wonderful place.
The books are available at the Health Center and McDonough's Market, Fresh Air, Island Airways, Livingstones, the Community Center, Island Energies, Paradise Bay, Beaver Island Boat Dock, The Toy Museum, Lois Stipps new shop with a price of $25 per book - five books for $100.

You can purchase a book tonight. The book makes a great gift. :D The four Broder brothers George, Josh, Matt & Mike paid all the design and printing costs. All of the proceeds from the sale of the books go to the Beaver Island Rural Health Center. A total of 33 David Broder columns from 1970 to 2010 are reprinted. Photographs by Frank Solle, Jeff Cashman and many other Islanders appear throughout the book. :D
