News from Travel Michigan's Director, George Zimmermann
While we wonâ??t have final tourism data on 2011 until early next year, all of the preliminary numbers are very positive. For example, according to Smith Travel Research, through November Michiganâ??s hotel occupancy rate was 56.6%, up 7.1% over the same period last year. Revenue per available hotel room (RevPAR) was $45.74, up 10.3% over the same period in 2010. While we still lag the national average in both categories, our increase rate for both categories was higher than the national average.
