Everyone is invited to join the middle and high-school students of the BI Community School at the Community Center Tuesday, October 25th at 1:30pm for a special presentation of "Kumpania", an hour-long performance documentary on the mysterious pull of the old Spanish Gypsy art of "Flamenco" on contemporary Los Angeles artists.
Written, produced and directed by part-time Beaver Island resident Katina Dunn and executive produced by her husband, Kevin, this special presentation of "Kumpania" will feature a Question and Answer period following the film.
Katina just recently completed this two-and-a-half-year labor-of-love which was selected for the Buffalo International Film Festival. Many more domestic and international festivals, cable and television submissions are on her distribution-horizon!
A beautifully-crafted, emotionally-engaging documentary, "Kumpania" is a fascinating glimpse at how traditional art forms are not only carried on, but influenced by our contemporary multi-cultural society.
Free-will donations for this presentation of "Kumpania" will benefit the Beaver Island Food Pantry and Community Center.
