Biology Project. HELP!

Post by Kathleen »

For a biology project, I need to explain why it is valuable to study the ecology of Beaver Island, and what types of organisms (both flora and fauna) inhabit the island. Any help?

YOU DIDN'T SAY IF YOU WERE ON THE ISLAND OR OFF BUT IF BETSY BORRE IS ON THE ISLAND, SHE IS QUITE KNOWLEDGABLE. THE CMU BIOLOGICAL STATION ON THIS ISLAND MAY ALSO BE ABLE TO HELP, (THEY HAVE A WEB SITE TOO, I THINK) GOOD LUCK...BERNIE

This website has pictures of plants and animals found on the island. I think that is all we needed. Try it!

Kathleen -

Sounds like a fun project! I am a Master Gardener and have been intrigued with the abundant and varied habitats on BI.

I have been studying and photographing the wildflowers on BI since last summer. I have amassed quite a collection of reference books and images and have attempted ( ) to I.D. the ones I've seen... what a task - there are so many!!!!

If you'd like to see some of the many wildflowers that can be found on BI, you can checkout http://eyelandart.com and go to the galleries page.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions... I'd be more than happy to help in any way I can.

Good luck with your project! - Vicky Rockwell
