BICS Class of 2020 Graduation Parade-6.6.20 1pm

Post by BICS »

BICS Class of 2020 Parade—1:00 pm, June 6th
Please join us to honor the accomplishments of our graduating seniors at 1:00 pm this Saturday! We are encouraging all Islanders to drive into town and line the 4th of July parade route with your car, truck, golf cart, or horse (well, maybe not the horse). To observe appropriate social distancing, please park your cars in succession from the school down the hill to Main Street to the Lumber Yard. The students will walk the parade route from the school, through town to the Lumber Yard up the Back Highway, then back down through town at the Post Office. Special thanks to Deputy Olson and Chief McDonough for agreeing to escort our students with the squad car and fire trucks! In the event of inclement weather, stay tuned to your e-mail and social media. If we have to do a short rain delay, we will let you know via e-mail and the BICS Facebook page. Please spread the word and help us celebrate Beaver Island’s 2020 Graduates! WVBI will be simulcasting a parade soundtrack that the Seniors have put together. Tune in 100.1 at 1:00 pm.

Some of us community members who like to give a little gift to the graduates might have some difficulty doing so if we’re being careful about social distancing. So if anyone wants an easy and safe way to drop off a gift, there will be a box on the bench in front of the community center tomorrow from 10:30 until after the parade. Any envelopes with a name on it will be given to that graduate; all the rest will be evenly divided between the five graduates. And if anyone wants to just drop in a few bucks without a card, there will be a sharpie next to the box (which will be sanitized between uses) to write your name on the box, so kids will know who to thank.
