The LTBB Natural Resources Department is organizing a day for volunteers to pull spotted knapweed on High Island. Instead of trying to make a dent in vast patches of knapweed like that found on the spit, we will be focusing our efforts on smaller, more manageable patches west and south of the spit. This will help contain the knapweed to existing areas and keep it from spreading further around the coast.
Right now we are thinking about Monday August 20, with a backup date of August 22 in case the weather doesn’t cooperate. We will be leaving from Harbor Springs and may be able to bring a few folks from the mainland out for the day, but for those on Beaver, we will stop by in St. James Harbor to pick people up there as well. If you are interested in joining us please contact me at njansen@ltbbodawa-nsn.gov or at 231-242-1670.
Hope to see you there,
