Seeking 78 RPM Records

Post by Finnsmum »

Hello folks!
I’m a Traverse City native visiting Beaver Island for the first time.
What a place this is!

Everywhere I go, I’m looking for 78 rpm records, phonograph records that would have been played on a wind-up Victrola.

If you have such records just hanging around, please reach out. My wife and I are here visiting my sister who comes here every year. I’ll be here Monday (7-16)  into Tuesday afternoon (7-17).

Please feel free to contact me anytime about 78s, especially 10” records from the 1920s - 1930s — even after this posting becomes old news!

Thank you!

Wow, as you know, a collector's item. I'm sure you have checked all the places on line and around TC. Will keep an ear out. Why the interest? Enquiring minds want to know...

Thanks for the replies!

I’ll certainly check the Resale shop tomorrow.

As for around TC, I scour shops and connect with folks often about 78s. I share my passion for collecting 78s via a monthly 78 Sunday show at Right Brain Brewery (next one: Sunday, Aug. 5 from 4 - 6 PM). I also play records for folks in Bellaire at Bee Well Mead and Cider (78 Wednesday on July 25 from 7 - 9 PM).

My love of this old music stems from early experiences with my dad who played records on our grandma’s portable phonograph. Watching me whirl around was better than t.v. , he always said. So, my interest started way back!

Please keep in touch whether in coming days or even years down the line. I’ll be a 78 collector for life!

Many thanks!
