Small Controlled Fire on the South End

In an effort to eliminate potential concerns, sometime between tomorrow and the next five days there will be a small, controlled fire in/around the ravine at the South End lighthouse with approval from Tim McDonough, the Beaver Island Fire Chief, the Charlevoix County Administrator, and the Charlevoix County Maintenance Supervisor. The fire is part of the current initiative to clean up the area that has been neglected and weather has been the deciding factor as to timing. This information is being shared to ensure there is no cause for alarm if you see smoke in that area. All officers and both airlines have been informed.
