NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
COMMENT PERIOD

Beaver Island, Michigan (Saint James Township and Peaine Township)
Master Plan

In accordance with the requirements of Section 41 of the Michigan Planning Enabling Act, this is to notify you that as of Wednesday, April 26, 2023, the Saint James Township and Peaine Township Joint Planning Commission has begun its 63 day review period for the public hearing draft of its Master Plan update.
The plan is available for review on the Saint James Township Website at https://www.stjamestwp.org/, the Peaine Township website at https://www.peainetwp.org/, and https://www.beaverislandtownships.org.

A copy is also available to view by appointment at both Saint James Township and Peaine Township offices. Saint James Township Offices are located at 37830 Kings Highway, Beaver Island, MI 49782 and appointments can be made by calling the Planning Assistant at (231) 330-0422. Peaine Township Offices are located at 36825 King's Hwy, Beaver Island, MI 49782 and appointments can be made by calling Vicki Smith at (253) 720-5692.

Please review the proposed Master Plan and submit any comments to Krys Lyle, Administrative Assistant, Beaver Island Joint Planning Commission, P.O. Box 54, Beaver Island, MI 49782 or by sending an email to peainetownship.aadm@gmail.com.

The Townships have scheduled a Public Hearing for the Master Plan on June 29, 2023 at 8:00 AM in the Beaver Island Historical Society Conference Room at 26275 Main St, Beaver Island, MI 49782, to review the Master Plan and receive comments. If recommended for approval, the plan will be sent to the respective Township Boards for consideration. The Peaine Township Board will meet on July 11, 2023 at 5:30 PM at the Township Hall (address above) and the St. James Township Board will meet July 12, 2023 at 5:30 PM at the Township Hall (address above).
