Can't make the EMS meeting the 22nd?

Post by BeaverIslandAssociation »

It is our understanding that Joe Moore will both tape and live stream the meeting along with it being broadcast live on WVBI.

Have a question you would like answered?

Send it the BIA at the e-mail address below and it will be it will be submitted to the panel, your name will not be used.

Thanks

Here are some questions that will be discussed at the Forum

â?¢ Paramedics, EMTâ??s, Nurse Practitioners, doctorsâ??who can do what when, called in an emergency?
â?¢ Why the sudden need for extra funding?
â?¢ If the millage fails how much time will we have before ALS and BLS ceases operations?

It's 2:00 PM Saturday, also on WVBI and live streamed on Joe Moores web site:

One of the most asked questions:

Could Health Center staff replace paramedics?

I'd like to see some detailed discussion on the cost.

For a Peaine primary residence (homestead) the 2015 millage was 16.87 for the Peaine winter tax and 10.7 for the Peaine summer tax.
If I understand correctly, the proposal is a 2 mill increase for EMS which represents a ~7.25% property tax increase. Is this correct?

Are there any elective items or less important millages that might be reduced to even things out, or are most homeowners in favor of a property tax increase to provide services?

Thatâ??s a good question and while EMS/ALS finances will be discussed at the meeting today I donâ??t think they will get into the overall tax structure on the island. At one meeting I attended there was a discussion on whether on not this full amount would actually be needed and if not the rate can be adjusted next year.

We had a great meeting and lots of discussion on the EMS millage, all positive. Thanks to all those who attended, watched on Joe Moore's web site or listened on WVBI.
