Birding 101 on Sunday, May 29th at 4 p.m.

Post by Pam Grassmick »

Have you wanted to learn how to become a â??birderâ?￾ but have never really known where to start? Sunday, May 29th at 4 p.m. at the Community Center is your chance to learn some birding ID skills in the classroom, and then head out to the field to put your new skills to use. Petoskey Regional Audubon Society (PRAS) President Darrell Lawson will lead a Birding 101 class and then the group will head to Gull Harbor to listen and look for migrating and resident birds. We will cover field guide choice/use, optics selection/use, tips for learning bird vocalizations, and identification pitfalls to avoid. Bring your own binoculars if you have them. Free and open to the public of all ages. Register on line at http://www.beaverislandbirdingtrail.org/warblers.html . We have room for this event.

Bird watching is a great event! Kids today should learn this activity so as to learn and know names of different species of birds.
