WVBI Weekend Programing

Post by WVBI »

It's the weekend on Beaver Island and we have lots of great programming ready to feed your mind and your soul.

Feed your mind Saturday and Sunday morning with our information programming:
  • 6 am -- Worldlink--Personal stories from people involved in headline events around the world. This week hear from women kidnapped by the so-called Islamic State, the mother of a radicalized ISIS recruit, and a young Kurd who has chosen to join the fight against ISIS. That and more this week on Worldlink.

7 am -- Inside Europe -- News from the continent of our Irish forbearers. This week FIFA's unraveling amongst allegations of bribery and other misconduct, the spike in tensions between Russia and the EU with a tit for tat over travel bans, defending free speech in Denmark and has reality TV gone too far (no, say it isn't so) in the Czech Republic. That and a news update on Inside Europe.

8 am -- Living Planet -- News from around the world about the environment. This week, Moscow discovers a love for bikes, Mexico goes green with rooftop gardens, and rangers in Georgia (the country, not the states) risk their lives to stop poachers. That and news on the decline of bird populations in the EU on this week's Living Planet.

10 am -- St. James Board Meeting -- On Saturday morning only, listen in on the June 3rd St. James Board meeting.
Feed your soul with great music all weekend:
  • On Saturday from 8:30 to 10 and after the St. James board meeting it's music with our special Cottage Mix. A little bit of current pop, oldies, country jazz, Celtic and all types of music from island artist will provide the perfect soundtrack for everyone at your cottage.

Then, both Saturday and Sunday evening you can enjoy our music specials:

Celtic Connections at 7, the International Americana Music Show at 8, Rockin' the Boat with Mark Beltaire at 9 and Fullmoon Hacksaw at 10. Then, it's jazz overnight with the Jazz Night Watch.

On Sunday, listen at 1:00 for classical music with The Collector's Corner with Henry Fogel from PRX and our special Sunday Night Oldies Show with Phil Becker. The rest of the day, it's the Cottage Mix and after the evening music specials, jazz overnight.
It's a weekend of great programming all on www.wvbi.net.
