PLEASE GIVE TO THE YOUTH GROUP LENTEN RICE BOWL CAMPAIGN

Holy Cross Catholic Church youth group is encouraging parish and community members to donate pocket change to benefit hunger relief efforts worldwide. The group has placed cardboard rice bowl displays near the cash registers in the following business: The Station, Powers Hardware, McDonoughâ??s Market, Dalwhinnie, Island Airways and the Library. Holy Cross parishioners were also asked to take a rice bowl home to accumulate donations during Lent.
The community rice bowls will be collected on the Monday after Easter and all donations will go to the Catholic Relief Services for hunger and poverty alleviation efforts. They also provide for such things as: projects to help farmers improve harvests, water and sanitation projects, and health and nutrition services. 25% of the funds raised go to hunger and poverty alleviation efforts here in Northern Michigan.
