WVBI is broadcasting 24/7 on the Internet and, as soon as we can, we'll be on 100.1 FM, right here on the Emerald Isle.
What will you hear on WVBI? Right now, we play something for everyoneâ??a mix of pop, oldies, jazz, country and some of our local musicians during the day, along with a few special shows, including Story Time from the library and a Student Writer's Workshop featuring our young local writers. WVBI also features community calendar and weather updates, plus an occasional 60-second burst of wisdom from Hardware Jeff.
Interested Islanders have already created some great shows. Tune in after lunch for an hour of classical music, or on Friday and Saturday nights for oldies and rock-n-roll. On Saturday mornings, listen for a top-ten countdown as well as a few stories told by Doris Larsen.
WVBI has been out and about, too. We covered the 4th of July parade with color commentary from Hardware Jeff, and recorded and broadcast the McDonough Memorial Concert. And, as the summer unfolds, we'll be featuring special Museum Week and Baroque on Beaver programs.
WVBI is just getting started. As we build experience and our staff, look for a morning and evening news round-up, regular weather reports, sports coverage (including play-by-play), events from the Community Center stage and more.
WVBI is the Island's radio station, where you'll hear a little bit of everything that makes Beaver Island the place we love to beâ??all bundled up with music that everyone can enjoy. What you hear will change with the seasons and your suggestions.
