If I have my facts right (and in this discussion I am indeed a neophyte), currently Beaver Island has one paramedic. This requires one individual to be on call 24/7. Not a good situation, right? Especially for said paramedic!
What can we do to ameliorate this untenable situation? How can we attract another paramedic to Beaver Island? Are sufficient funds available to make this a position that would pay enough to make it attractive?
How can we make this happen? How can I get involved in finding a solution?
And while we are thinking of possibilities, let's all profusely thank Joe Moore for his dedicated service to everyone's emergency medical needs. And all of the EMTs!! And Health Center staff too! We are lucky to have competent personnel to allow all of us to enjoy our remote paradise.
