Vern Smith-RIP

A good friend passed this morning, Vern Smith, 69, of Howard City and Sand Lake left this world for his rest. Vern ran a store in Sand Lake called the Wooden Nickel for many years. He had a home at Cables Bay that he called the Wooden Nickel. He helped me out immensely at Dockside Market. He was always willing to lend a hand. His son Kurt works for the Beaver Island Boat Company and his son Glen was a huge help to me this winter working on machinery.
