ethnic census consensus
Joey Kenwabikise wants to know how many Irishmen are still left on the island??
census
According to the 2000 census, there are 62 people claiming Irish ancestory in Peaine Township and 10 claimng Scottish-Irish ancestory. In St. James Township, there were 132 people claiming Irish ancestory and 20 claiming Scottish-Irish. In both townships, Irish was the highest claimed ancestory, with English being the second highest (52 in St. James and 41 in Peaine).
Hope this helps.
This part of the survey did not include the numbers of Native Americans, blacks, hispanics and asicans. Those numbers were seperated out and located in their own section.
