Questions

As I was unable to attend the public ORV hearing, I did not hear if these questions got answered. Can a township ordinance contradict/supercede a county ordinance? If the county ordinance prevents ORV use on a county road, can the township ordinance allow it? Who pays for prosecution of violation of...

Island Connection

Yes, they do have an Island connection, but I'll leave the how up to others more knowledgeable than I.

Ospreys Anyone seen them?

I go out every other day to check on the ospreys, and haven't seen either of the pair for almost a week. Has anyone else seen them?

What packages?

I would like to hear about the upload speed and download speed in a homeowner package for the wifi that is proposed by CCC. What is the additional cost of static IPs? Give me an idea of what I can get for say $40 per month, $50 per month, 60$ per month. This would be for a home network with wifi for...

Thank you

The family of the late Phil Gregg would like to thank the island community, family and friends far away for their outpouring of love. Your prayers, hugs, flowers, cards, visits, phone calls, memorial gifts, food, use of motels and cars were such a help during this sad time. You made us realize that ...

Attitude

It seems that the above mentioned attitude about doing "whatever and whenever" may be the very reason that ORV use may be greatly limited here. It seems that a more responsible attitude might be one in which certain areas, due to environmental sensitivity, natural areas, and areas of endan...

Meetings and personal opinions

I have emailed the Charlevoix Chamber of Commerce three times. I have called them four times. As of right now, I have had not one email nor one phone call returned. I think it is a good idea to have Islanders heard in a meeting, but my question is this: Will it make any difference? Will we still be ...

In reference to the proposed $1 fee for flight trips to and from Beaver Island:

"Charlevoix must think that Beaver Island is populated by a bunch of pathetic whiners."

BI Jazz Band??

Do you have an old instrument in the closet that you haven't played in a long time? Do you have a desire to get it out and give it another try after all these years? Do you have a sax, trumpet, clarinet, etc. and want to see if you can play it again? Let me know if you're interested. Email me at med...

The text of the law here

The ORV law that was recently passed (one week ago) can be found at this website and downloaded for those that are interested. It is interesting that most of the concerns voiced are covered in this law including the fines and the possibility of seizing the vehicles from violators. Interesting that k...

Your opinion and my opinion

You can read anything you want into anything that is written depending upon your frame of mind when you read it. There was no implication about anyone or any type of vehicle intended. The legal operation of any vehicle was not questioned in this article, and nothing was implied about proper operatio...

Weather and flyover

So, Steve, is there an alternate plan if the weather continues on the downside? Will the aircraft still land at the township airport with thunderstorms possible?

I don't want to be negative, but the weather doesn't look very good.

Carnival

And none of it would have happened without the person in charge of organizing things, recruiting volunteers, and managing the efforts of all. Thank you, Dianne, for what you did, and what we hope you will continue to do!

That ticket line was mighty long, this year!
