Re: Peaine Township Vision for the Future

Just a quick note of clarification about my contact to the township attorney regarding potential costs. I did not make the contact on behalf of the pro consolidation group but to get general information and to ask if there were other concerns our board should be thinking about. I shared the notes of...

Re: AGAINST A CONSOLIDATED BEAVER ISLAND TOWNSHIP

I am responding to Kathy Meade's 2 questions that were posted yesterday relative to the sewer system internal debt. 1. If there is debt in St. James and it is on a payout to be completed by 2020 will consolidation impact this? When will joint assets/liabilities be merged? Would consolidation shift t...

Re: AGAINST A CONSOLIDATED BEAVER ISLAND TOWNSHIP

At this time St James Township has no outstanding bonds or other general fund or road fund debt. The municipal sewer system bond was paid off in 2017. The sewer fund has internal debt which is being paid through ongoing sewer use fees by those homeowners and businesses who are connected to the sewer...

Re: The 3rd category: In a consolidation quandary

This is in response to Pat Bonadeo's question about whether township debts would be merged - at this time St James Township has no outstanding bonds or other general fund or road fund debt. The municipal sewer system bond was paid off in 2017. The sewer fund has internal debt which is being paid thr...

Re: FOR A CONSOLIDATED BEAVER ISLAND TOWNSHIP

I am posting this as a personal message and not as a representative of the St James Township Board. Regardless of how the election turns out, I hope we can all learn from each other and help our community grow stronger. Sorry this essay is so long. Thoughts on Consolidation – An Essay by Kitty McNam...

Re: AGAINST A CONSOLIDATED BEAVER ISLAND TOWNSHIP

I see that there are some budget items that should be clarified; I would have posted this under the budget section, if there was space. BIFD and BIEMS funds (and fund balances) show up under individual townships, when in fact, they are separate from the townships and are adopted by BIESA. I think th...

Thanks for the interest in the Fresnel lens. Just a quick clarification - signage will be coming; soon some temporary signage and in the spring permanent detailed signage. I respectfully request that the pirate show some patience. Years of volunteer time and energy and fund raising have gone into th...

Thanks to the 11 volunteers who showed up for the campground work bee. The picnic tables were cleaned and the area trimmed up and the lake view opened up. Two other lake view spots were brushed out, the entrance opened up, and the hand pump even got a paint job. Work bee helpers were Eric & Pam ...

Just a reminder about this meeting tonight. It would be nice to get input from as many people as possible as this process winds down. Thanks to the members of the planning commissions in both townships for committing so much time to the master plan project.
