If you came via BIBCO there is a building right across the street from the boat dock, that is the transportation building. They have a bus that will pick you up and drop you off for a minimal charge. I know it has come in very handy for my grandmother who is unable to drive. They drive her to and f...

How do you people get screwed for a "County Transit 0.24080 " levy?

The 2 times I was on your island, I didn't see a bus or subway.

Is there a subsidy for BIBCO or Island Airlines?

If you are longing for blue herons, come here to Ohio.
We have two rookeries within 10 miles of here (Akron). Each has over 25 nests. The nests are huge (over 4 ft.) and quite active in the next month.

Hope to be on the island (again) this summer. :D

Speaking of Beaver Is. recipes, my wife & I would give anything for those wonderful sandwiches we has at the Shamrock this summer.

It was the one with chicken, red peppers, onions, and cilantro wrapped in a tortilla.

I'll know in a couple weeks. Might get a taste tonight.
Fennel would add a bit of a licorice flavour. I tried it once in a stout and it worked out rather well.

I tried replicating Great Lakes Brewing Co's. Christmas Ale this time around.

A great place like Beaver Island where one can come and get away from the hustle & bustle of everyday life.
I have only been there once, but my stay was a relaxing and enjoyable one.

Keep up the great work! 8)

Thank you very much, Anna for the article. It was interesting reading.Particularly about the storm of 1913. One of my first memories of Michigan was the roadside sign of that storm.
Sorry it took so long for me to respond.
