Re: FOURTH OF JULY FIREWORKS TO BE CANCELLED

Yet, here you are Dumpster Chicken! So now your stance is that a board’s decision cannot be challenged/debated? So, again, your affiliation with BI is what? Medical credentials? Again, I’m not an MD....enlighten me with your knowledge of C19 mitigation with ASYMPTOMATIC people, outdoors, and distanc...

Re: FOURTH OF JULY FIREWORKS TO BE CANCELLED

Please tell me what data you have to support the cancellation of an outdoor event, socially distanced, and completely VOLUNTARY to go to is dangerous? You must be one of the SMARTEST people in the world, that you feel you can make the decisions on what people can, and cannot do....is that correct? A...

Re: FOURTH OF JULY FIREWORKS TO BE CANCELLED

I pay property taxes, and I’m an adult enough to use my own name. And I have family heritage that goes back generations....what’s your connection?

PS....I edited because i didn’t want to trigger any sensitive people who also go by aliases...

Re: FOURTH OF JULY FIREWORKS TO BE CANCELLED

Sad and pathetic.....to think of the hardships that our island ancestors endured to create a life on Beaver Island, "back in the olden days"..... clearing land, fishing, sailing, logging, farming, and the list goes on.....time for a gut check, people....FREEDOM to choose to not attend a fi...

Thanks Jacque! I very well may take advantage of that next year! Hopefully someone on BI will take on this opportunity! I know several people who would pay handsomely for quality processing!

Time to Grow Up

Write in for the ballot: Hear ye, Hear ye.....The ballot of "Hindsight of 20/20" would like to present the solution to every, and all issues, from neither here, nor there!: President/King: Ken Taylor VP/Queen: Kirk McBride (With that name, it is only fitting) "Our platform is here to ...

Well as you stated, it is always a local issue....in this case there are different forest types on Beaver Island and the Archipelago .....Northern Hardwood, Lowland Swamps, Aspen Stands, Lowland Hardwood, Lowland Coniferous, etc...you get the point.....each type of stand typically has its own prescr...

John, the answer is....it depends. Science based simply means letting a professional wildlife forester, manage the forest. For example, aspen stands typically are prescribed clear cuts......areas of severe beech bark decline, might also qualify, likely LEAVING the beech bark disease resistant trees ...

THIS is what makes BI THE most SPECIAL place on Earth!

Kudos to the Welkes' and the Grassmicks' for their generosity! Can you imagine the responses that one would get in an area (where I live) other than BI......Tampa....or any other urban area?!?! Holy smokes, what a great place WE call home (even though we don't live there year round)! Thank you, for ...

Again, just my 2 cents comparing BI and the UP....some common and obvious facts: 1. BI doesn't have wolves. When the UP started the wolf repopulation, some experts said that a successful reintroduction of wolves would be a poplulation of 200 wolves.....there are reports that there are well over 800 ...

This was my reply to the topic at hand to the BIWC membership: One other point of reference/parrallel......how many does were shot on Garden Island during the "Hay Days" after prescribed forestry? Minimal to almost none is the answer....what is the likely decline of the herd there? Habitat...

WANTED: Archie LaFreniere Stone/Rock Drawings

I am looking for my Great Uncle Archie's Stone/Rock drawings. I will certainly pay handsomely. To give a little color, I would like to use a rather larger stone to incorporate into a stone fireplace, sometime in the future. Thanks in advance, for even any leads as to who would be willing to sell. Be...
