Perhaps we can use the "Warm the Smithwicks" as an update forum and this one to send best wishes as I will attempt.... Jerry, my favorite musical pictures are of those many parties in your pole barn - and many favorite memories too. The pictures I am speaking of are of me playing of course...

Re: Should your Biology prohibit you to play?

I just read Marriane's note again and realized that she is feeling discriminated because she can't play on the MEN's league. How did I miss that? Did everyone miss it? Now this really bothers me. I would think that one of the first bylaws of forming a men's league would be... um... let's see... bein...

Re: Should your Biology prohibit you to play?

A few things came up for me when I read Marianne's post: First of all, don't ever apologize for being female, or act as if it is an unfortunate thing. Maybe you were setting up your story, but if a female enters into an arena feeling female, or a black feeling black, or an illiterate, or poor, or be...

I had all my music equipment to deal with on my pickup truck. First thing Sunday I went to the Home Depot to buy a tarp and some bungee cords. I don't know, I think it just adds to the adventure of the unknown. I like this party time because it is finally showing signs of spring, the sun is out long...

Thanks Rich

Thanks for posting this notice Rich. Bucky was a good friend of my uncle Jim Scripps, now in his nineties, through the Creston Rod and Gun Club. My dad always liked to make an effort to say hello to Bucky when he visited the island. My thoughts will be with Jeannie.

Thanks Richie for posting the news. Ernie was a great mentor to me in my early adult years. He fought many battles in this life and in many ways he is a hero to me. He has occupied a lot of space in my mind the last few weeks. One of the things that keeps coming up is how he cast no judgment on anyo...

I offered this idea at the recent BICGR meeting. It would be as Shirley described, different than what you would hear at the dance party. I guess I am picturing something that would resemble Barry's annual Jack Cull Memorial Concert, where there is an audience that is relatively quiet and engaged in...

Ho Boy... It was my first visit to the island - probably '75. I was with my cousin Duff (Jeff, now a BI resident), and my dad put us on a flight over to the island to hear my brother Mike's band Homecookin' at the Shamrock (or to get rid of us so they could party with the Whitley's in Charlevoix). W...

I like your stuff. I admire how you take your music seriously and how you always seem ready for the next level. I don't know if you found your true calling yet, but you certainly are on your way. Yes, next time you come to the island I would like to be your drummer again - that was such a blast last...

Fabulous! Thank you everybody for your kind words regarding the music. I have recieved many compliments on the band and rather than my usual "Thank you," I have simply agreed. I don't know what it was - perhaps Glen McDonough's spirit was weaving through us. He certainly was on my mind a l...
